The song writing project of the group OnlyOneOf is receiving applications from music fans around the world.
OnlyOneOf has been looking for English lyrics for the single "dOra maar" since February, offering a $100,000 prize. The contest runs through March 31, with an interim analysis of YouTube applicants showing a hot response that exceeded expectations.
It is expanding into a truly global event, attracting applicants not only from Asia but also from the Americas, Latin America, Europe and Oceania in Africa. OnlyOneOf's winds are blowing, regardless of region, country and continent, which have been analyzed as not the main market for K-pop.
By nationality, the U.S. accounted for an overwhelming 35 percent of the total. The figure is much higher than 20 percent for all Asian countries combined. The distribution of support in various countries is also impressive. Applicants continued in Europe, including Britain, France, the Czech Republic, Russia, and Romania, as well as Argentina and Brazil on the other side of the globe. There has also been a series of aid from Qatar, the UAE and Israel in the Middle East and Africa.
With 80 percent of female applicants, the ratio of pure K-pop fans to apply is even more meaningful than professional musicians. The project was designed by OnlyOneOf after studying new things to enjoy with music fans.
OnlyOneOf's "dOra maar" writing project runs through March 31 Korean time. Uploading English lyrics and singing videos on YouTube automatically applies. The English lyrics adopted will be recorded in a new voice of OnlyOneOf and released as a worldwide single.
Adding more meaning to the song, OnlyOneOf marks the beginning of a full-fledged global activity, the winner proudly puts his name on the album credit as a lyricist.
They said "We want to communicate with K-pop fans all over the world happily within the boundaries of music" and "We appreciate the hot response from all over the world and hope it's a contest that everyone enjoys together. We will listen to each and every song carefully as they are precious works," expressing their gratitude to global applicants.
