
Group BTS has topped the Gaon Chart annual album chart with its MAP OF THE SOUL: PERSONA album, surpassing 3.71 million sales, the highest number ever.
According to the 2019 annual album chart released by Gaon Chart, a South Korean music chart, released by BTS in April last year, the MAP OF THE SOUL: PERSONA album sold 3,718,230 copies annually. This is the largest annual sales since the Gaon Chart was created.
BTS started to rank first in annual sales (751,031 copies) with its second full-length album "WINGS" in 2016 and broke the record (1.493,443 copies) with the LOVE YOURSELF 承 Her album in 2017. In addition, it topped the annual album chart for the fourth consecutive year, selling 2,197,808 copies with the LOVE YOURSELF 結 Answer album in 2018.
Previously, BTS' MAP OF THE SOUL: PERSONA sold 3.22 million copies in April 2019 and just 19 days after its release, recording the largest monthly sales since the Gaon Chart tally. In addition, it has been making history by setting a new record for the most sales of Korean singers (339,302 tickets) released by the Guinness World Records in June.
Meanwhile, BTS released its comeback trailer "Interlude: Shadow" of its fourth full-length album "MAP OF THE SOUL: 7" through its official SNS channel, signaling a major comeback.
