Girl group MOMOLAND topped the K-Pop Radar weekly YouTube views chart for the first time in the New Year.
K-pop radar said in a weekly briefing released on Jan. 6 that MOMOLAND's new song "Thumbs Up" reached 18,973,244 views during the tally period, topping YouTube's views chart for the first week of 2020.
MOMOLAND, who recently released "Thumbs Up" and has continued their four-game hit streak, is showing off their global influence.
“Of the 28.4 million views on MOMOLAND collected within YouTube over the past month, 4.86 million views, or 17 percent, took place in the Philippines, followed by 12 percent in South Korea, 9 percent in Vietnam, 5 percent in Indonesia and 4 percent in Thailand,” K-pop radar said.
"This shows that MOMOLAND is gaining huge popularity in Southeast Asian countries, including the Philippines. Thiis seems to have allowed MOMOLAND to top the weekly YouTube charts." K-pop radar added.
In addition, MOMOLAND has reorganized the team into a six-member system on November 30, but the 24-hour view of 'Thumbs Up' is 1.24 times that of the previous 24-hour view of 'I'm So Hot', which is about 1.41 million times. It recorded 546 million times, an increase of about 2 times.
K-pop radars, established by music startup Space Odity, have been releasing weekly charts based on the number of YouTube views seen around the world over the past week, and have made headlines by releasing the "2019 K-pop World Map" through aggregate data.
The K-pop radar site allows users to check the overall ranking outside the top 10 and also check followers' charts of Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and fan cafe.
