Singer Kang Hyojun showcases his emotional ballad for the first time in four months.
Kang Hyojun released his new single "Cause I Couldn’t Say That" on various music sites at 6 p.m. on Jan. 3.
"Cause I Couldn’t Say That" is a '90s-style emotional ballad that shows the sadness for a broken lover, adding an analog sound that inspires nostalgia to redouble one’s longing. Kang Hyojun also participated in writing and composing lyrics and displayed his talent as a singer-songwriter.
In particular, he directed new songs as well as album covers and videos as retro moves to express his deeper musical sensibility. Kang Hyojun said he wanted to make music like a self-portrait that would allow him to see and think from afar.
Kang Hyojun, meanwhile, made headlines in 2018 on Mnet’s "I Can See Your Voice," receiving rave reviews from girl group MAMAMOO HWASA for his charming voice reminiscent of U.S. rock group Maroon5 vocalist Adam Levine and 10cm Kwon Jung-yeol. Since then, he has made a surprise debut by releasing his single "Flower" in September last year, marking his new birth.
