Black Pink, who was the main character of K-pop group 500 million views through "DDU-DU DDU-DU," broke its own record with "Kill This Love," and broke another new record. It was 51 days earlier than its previous record of 500 million views.
This marks Black Pink's fourth music video of its career to reach more than 500 million views, following the K-pop group's first-ever 800 million views of "Cutdu," 600 million views of "Bumbaya" and "As Like the Last."
"Kill This Love," a new record-breaking 500 million views, entered Billboard's "Hot 100" and "Billboard 200" at the same time at the time of its release at 41st and 24th, respectively. As a K-pop girl group, it succeeded in charting through the fourth week with the "first" and "best" records and even broke its own title during the K-pop girl group's "best" period.
In addition, it stayed for the fifth consecutive week in the U.K.'s "Official Singles Chart Top 100," one of the world's two biggest music charts with Billboard.
The music video for BLACKPINK's mega hit song "Cutdu" has easily surpassed 800 million views, and is soon expected to add a new music video record for K-pop group's first 900 million views. In addition, the music video for "Whistle" is also set to surpass 400 million views.
Black Pink, who has set a new record for breaking the record of "Kill This Love," was nominated for the Best K-pop category at the MTV Video Music Awards, a U.S. pop music award ceremony, and also raised expectations.
BLACKPINK recently toured a total of 23 cities across four continents of Asia, North America, Europe, and Oceania, ending its 32nd performance with a bang. It will then host four dome tours of three Japanese cities at the Tokyo Dome in December, Kyocera Dome in Osaka in January next year and Fukuoka Yahoo Oak Dome in February.
