
Newkid, a boy band that is making a splash abroad, heated Brazil up.
Newkid attended the KCON festival "Brazil Korean Wave Expo 2019" at the Expo Center North in Sao Paulo, Brazil, for two days from July 6 (Tuesday) to July 7.
Newkid, the only K-pop artist to attend, thrilled Brazilian fans with its powerful performances and colorful charm. At the scene, local fans carrying blue roses symbolizing the group's Newkid called "Tuarez" into a Korean-language swarm, giving Newkid a warm impression.
The "Brazil Hallyu Expo 2019" Newkid fan signing event, which was followed by the pre-opening event, proved Newkid’s extraordinary popularity in Brazil, a South American Korean Wave hub, with some 100,000 people flocking to down the server. Local media also showed great interest, with local broadcaster Kazeta appearing on live TV and Rede TV broadcasts.
Newkid, which gained popularity by entering South America two months after its debut, expanded its South American fandom to become the next-generation Korean Wave idol, starting with the opening ceremony of the "Korean Wave Expo 2019" in Brazil and hosting the " Newkid LATIN TOUR 2019" linking Paraguay, Uruguay and Argentina from July 9 to 17.
Newkid, who recently released its debut album, is receiving a special love in Latin culture by putting " Tuarez " - meaning "You're pretty" - in the lyrics. It is popular with its clear concept of mysterious fantasy atmosphere, power and sexy performance of the innocent boy. Newkid is a seven-member boy group consisting of mebers Jin Kwon, Ji Han Sol, Yoon Min, Woo Chul, Choi Ji-an and Kang Seung-chan.
